3 IPS officers have been entrusted with key responsibilities ahead of Bihar elections; where Kundan Krishnan has been appointed as State Nodal Police officer.

In a major administrative move ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections, the Bihar Police has appointed senior IPS officers to key roles to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process.

Kundan Krishnan, a 1994-batch IPS officer currently serving as Additional Director General (ADG) at Bihar Police Headquarters, has been named the State Nodal Police Officer for the elections.

Pankaj Darad, a 1995-batch IPS officer and ADG in charge of Law and Order and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), has been appointed as the State Coordinator for Central Forces.

Meanwhile, Kamal Kishore Singh, a 1996-batch IPS officer and ADG, will be responsible for overseeing election budget management.

Sources suggest that Bihar Police will soon begin evaluating security deployments and identifying sensitive polling booths to ensure peaceful voting. As part of the preparations, the Election Commission organized a one-day orientation session in Delhi on Wednesday, addressed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

A total of 69 officials, including the three ADGs – Kundan Krishnan, Pankaj Darad, and Kamal Kishore Singh – along with several IGs, DIGs, SPs, and DSPs, attended the session. Officers were briefed on election-specific administrative protocols, working methods, and the importance of maintaining neutrality, with a special focus on enforcing the Model Code of Conduct during the election period.
